The Sun and Wine Route

Along the coast and up to the border with the province of Granada, we find the towns of Algarrobo, Sayalonga, Cómpeta, Canillas de Albaida, Torrox, Nerja and Frigiliana. This beautiful coastline is home to sandy beaches below cliffs and coves; hills carpeted in vineyards, and rural cottages and farmhouses. This is where a famous sweet wine, from the times of Roman domination, is made, in addition to cane honey which is only made in Frigiliana. This village boasts a Moorish-Mudéjar centre which has received numerous awards for its excellent state of conservation.

In Nerja, a world-famous centre of tourism, the spectacular and famous caves, more than 250,000 years old, are a national monument and one which will astound with its breathtaking and unique beauty.

The Nature Reserve of Los Acantilados de Maro (the Maro Cliffs), the Roman Aqueduct and the villages inland with their steep and narrow streets that bear witness to the original Moorish layout, are essential parts of this outstanding and unforgettable route.
