The Mudejar Route

Travelling inland, the villages of Arenas, Árchez, Salares, Sedella and Canillas de Aceituno, take us back to an historical past, full of architectural richness such as the minarets and the ruins of numerous castles and forts.

Villages of authentic Mudejar design which, along with the Castle of Bentomiz, leave those who visit them with the feeling of having gone back in time.

These villages have a very 'intimate' atmosphere about them and are the most typical of the local area that you will find in the whole Axarquia region. They are also the ones offering the best preserved examples of the original architecture of the region and are unique in their ability to adapt to the hilly landscape in which they can be found.
